Title: What do you think of this?
Post by: powersmoke on October 10, 2012, 12:19 am
So, this past friday morning (5 am) i ordered a couple of items from a well regarded vendor, with plans to partake of these items on saturday...w/ my wife...while the kids are at the grandparent..ya get my point??

Vendor clearly states on his page, that all orders received before noon, ship same day. Cool with me, payed for express--i am confident of saturday delivery.

About 11am, i send the vendor a message, basically to confirm my order and make sure he saw the extra for express--the order was small and not expensive, the damn shipping was more than the order.
I get online about 9pm friday, and the message has not been read. Order still in processing.
So i send him this:
Quote
Hey man-
Hope everything is going ok for you.
I wanted to check in and verify that you were in receipt of my order and instructions, along with payment and express shipping info.

I placed this order VERY early this morning (Friday)- like before the sun came up-- and I made certain that i applied the appropriate funds to cover express.
I am a little concerned that its been close to 10 hours since i sent my first message to you and it doesn't appear to have been read, and my order still shows as processing--even though the system indicates you have been logged into SR today.
Based on all of your past reviews, this seems out of the ordinary, and very unlike your normal practice---therefore I am concerned that you might have missed my order, and failed to ship it out today.

If nothing more, please confirm actual recpt of my order, as soon as you have an opportunity to respond to this message.

Many thanks.

This message was finally read sometime saturday afternoon, but a reply was never sent.  I checked in several time that evening, and late that night he posted this on his profile page :

IMPORTANT - October 6, 2012:

I've created a bit of a clusterfuck with my PGP implementation.

I've let float several different Public Keys without realizing that most PGP software keeps those Public Keys on file. As a result, I have a number of PGP messages - and more importantly - orders/addresses that I am unable to decrypt.

Unfortunately, this has ground order processing to a halt TODAY (Saturday, 10/6). The good news is that as of last night (Friday, 10/5) we were caught up with all shipping (less a handful of special handling orders).

IF YOUR ORDER IS MARKED AS "IN TRANSIT" THEN IT HAS DEFINITELY SHIPPED. WE ADHERE TO THIS RULE WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTIONS.

I have created YET ANOTHER "public key" that is now going to be my official and only public key. It appears at the end of this message. If you are holding any of my other public keys and are able to delete them from your PGP software, please do so. Note that I am abandoning the public key with the name "removed out of courtesy" in favor of the new key that follows, "removed out of courtesy."

I still have my stray, previous public keys on hand and I am in the process of attempting to decrypt the messages/shipping addresses that use them today. It appears that I can decrypt approximately 90% of the messages/shipping addresses that have been sent to me.

Subsequently, I am contacting the buyers behind those 10% that I cannot decrypt and asking them to resend their messages/addresses.

If you've got an order that stays in "processing" this weekend you will likely hear from me.

Monday is Columbus Day in the USA and it is a mail holiday. Any and every order received through Monday PM will ship on Tuesday.

Feel free to write if you have any questions. You are indeed welcome to use PGP to encrypt anything you send to us, however, honestly, it's much easier on this end to receive messages/addresses in cleartext or via privnote.com.

Thank you for bearing with me through this bump in the road.

Have a nice weekend!

Well--that officially sucks--for both of us.
its confirmed im not getting my shit now, and probably no "sexy time" either.. and he may not even have my address. So i chill out until monday morning- no point in bugging him when there aint shit he can do at this point. But the fact that i paid almost $30 for express, specifically told him i was really wanting for something on saturday--and still has not contacted me once is irritating me.
Monday morning i sent this:
Quote
I saw your vendor page and the update about the PGP screwup.
My order is still listed as processing, so i assume my order was one of the ones that got screwed up.
However- i havent received anything from you confirming this, or a reply two my 2 previous messages.
I understand that problems happen, and its hard to get them corrected and take care of business at the same time--but at least an acknowledgement would be appreciated. Given that i paid more for shipping than i did for the order, clearly there was a reason that i intentionally wanted express.
The event that i was wanting the products for has passed, and i made other arrangements for a substitute-- so at this point im just trying to see when you intend to fill the order--if you would, i'd appreciate if you can cancel the express shipping and refund that portion of the total.

Please confirm receipt and understanding of this message---thanks.

It now Tuesday about 7:30pm and the order has been marked shipped.
After I messaged him 3 times, I still havent received a single reply from this vendor--not once.

How would this sit with you?

Hey I also happen to put an order with him the same night. Though I didn't use express mail. He hasn't replied to me  either asking if I used the wrong key or if he shipped out my order either. But he seems to be a very good  and professional vendor so I am not suspect at all. Though with your situation it does seem a bit fucked up. If you offer express shipping. You should be able to fulfill that offer, other wise I don't think you should be a vendor.

EDIT: He added this to his page today yet my order is still in processing. Again though I have had a few talks with him prior to buying from him, so I do not think he is out to screw anyone over. Hopefully you guys can come to a resolution.

Hey I also happen to put an order with him the same night. Though I didn't use express mail. He hasn't replied to me weather or not I used the wrong key or put my stuff in-transit either. But he seems to be a very good vendor nor I am in a hurry so I don't really mind. Though with your situation it does seem a bit fucked up. If you offer express shipping. You should be able to fulfill that offer, other wise I don't think you should be a vendor.

Well, that does make me feel a little better--at least its not me. Seriously--i was beginning to think that maybe my messages were not getting sent or something.
I'm not so much concerned about the order at this point- its not a lot of money-but more so the damn principle and lack of contact.
The fact that there has been ZERO replies since friday has pissed me off.
Hell--just say, "working on it, get back w ya later" ....it wouldnt take much.
It just strikes me as being inconsiderate of who is sending the money.
Of course, I havent sent it yet, either....

Another update on my order. Just went in transit. I'm happy. But if I was you I would sending another message to get a refund on at least your shipping. What he did with the shipping he offered seems out of character for him.

What he did with the shipping he offered is incredibly unprofessional and seems out of character for him. Again I hope you two come to a resolution.

I'm thinking that will be my next message to him.
You would think that a vendor would refund whatever sort of express shipping automatically for a buyer, if there was some sort of screw up and an order is not processed for several days.
we'll see what happens...

On another note-- i cant believe that this has been read over 70 times, and only one person has an opinion on whether this sort of thing is ok or not.
Seriously--this was just a general post for the masses. I'm curious to hear how other folks would react and handle this.
Post up!

Hey guys - popping in for a moment...

The PGP issue is indeed my fault and ultimately, everybody's orders have been delayed as a result and I am sorry.  We've been working very hard here to catch up and I think there are now only 8 or 10 orders in the queue with PGP issues remaining.  I have been completely open and honest about how the PGP issue has been affecting the process.

[removed excruciatingly boring account of having invested in a clandestine seaborne greyhound racetrack/brothel/spa that only accepted BTC and the mutiny that took place on board this past weekend...]

I don't mind refunding shipping upgrades in the least in this circumstance.  Please hold on to your issues for another day while I clear the list and then we'll deal with refunds for shipping, etc.

Best regards,
nawlins & team

I'm happy to see you chime in here Nawlins. I knew you were a man of his word. If I could I would give you karma. Also he has been completely upfront about all he has had going on lately. He even gave me free priority shipping during the mishap with his pgp and what not. That's really what I like too see in vendors He is.truthful, professional and he is taking full responsibility about what has been going on lately.
